Helping The Salvos help Australia
In the lead up to Christmas 2011, we launched the eftpos Giveback.
Between 20 November and 17 December 2011, Australians have been ‘pressing for good’, by selecting CHQ or SAV for every day purchases.
The Salvation Army has a million reasons to believe in the nation’s Christmas spirit as donations reached $1 million in just four short weeks, allowing The Salvos to use the funds across a number of initiatives that benefit families Australia-wide, including Oasis Youth support network, aged care and drop-in centres.
We’d like to thank everyone who used eftpos during this period. We’re aiming to make this a Christmas tradition and will be urging Australia to ‘Press for Good’ again in 2012 so stay tuned for more details.

Campaign
In 2011, eftpos Payments Australia Limited (ePAL) will run its inaugural "eftpos Giveback campaign" (Campaign), for a period of 4 weeks from 20 November 2011 to 17 December 2011 inclusive (Campaign Period), to help Australians in need.
This Campaign will be run in conjunction with The Salvation Army as part of its Red Shield Appeal (The Salvos Red Shield Appeal).
Qualifications
The Campaign will operate wherever eftpos is accepted in Australia. There are no geographic limitations. eftpos transactions are determined by a cardholder pressing "Chq" or "Sav" buttons at the point of sale in Australia. Withdrawals from ATMs are excluded.
There are no transaction type limitations, that is, all eftpos transactions are included, whether they are for purchase only, cash out with or without purchase or Medicare or charitable transactions and regardless of the amount of the eftpos transaction. Note that some merchants impose a minimum threshold for eftpos acceptance.
Donation
ePAL will determine volume based donation amounts each week up to an aggregate cap of $1,000,000. A donation amount for that week will be determined for each week of the Campaign.
