SYDNEY, New South Wales — 20 July 2018 – eftpos today announced that Independent Director, Leigh Clapham, had been unanimously elected as the new Chairman of the eftpos Board, with a mission to guide the business to increase customer focus and take eftpos into new areas of the payments value chain.
eftpos CEO, Mr Stephen Benton, said he was very pleased to welcome Mr Clapham as the new eftpos Chairman, bringing strong governance and a very commercial approach to the role.
Mr Clapham replaces former Chairman, Ms Vickki McFadden, who resigned from the role in March 2018.
“This appointment is very positive for the business,” Mr Benton said. “Leigh has significant experience in payments and a strong customer driven sales approach with high urgency and a real results focus.
Mr Clapham previously ran Mastercard in Australia and New Zealand, and held several senior roles in Mastercard across Europe. He is an experienced board director currently serving as non executive director with Optal Limited, an unlisted public company specialising in B2B payments. In addition, Mr Clapham is non executive chairman of Hong Kong based Optal Asia Limited.
