How do I set up Samsung Pay™?
Simply follow these steps to use your eligible debit card with Samsung Pay.
 
For Samsung Phone, launch the “Pay” application or download from the app store and follow the prompts.

You can access it if you have an eftpos debit card with any of the following banks or financial institutions:

Samsung Pay with eftpos is available on a range of devices – you can find the full list right here.
How do I change my default payment method to eftpos options in Samsung Pay?
Open Samsung Pay, select your card, then select eftpos. If eftpos isn’t coming up as an option, you’ll need to remove your card and re-add it. Here’s what to do:
 
  • Open Samsung Pay
  • Tap Menu, then tap ‘Cards’
  • Select the card you want to remove and tap ‘Delete Card’
  • Enter your Samsung Pay PIN
  • Tap ‘Add Card’ and follow the prompts.
  • Once you’ve re-added your card, the eftpos network will be available and you can pick eftpos from the Payment Methods.

Adding your card to Google Pay takes just a few minutes – just download the app from Google Play or check to see if it’s already installed on your phone. Then, open the app and follow the instructions.
What devices support eftpos and Google Pay?
Google Pay works on Android devices running Lollipop 5.0+ or higher.
Exactly how do I use Google Pay at the checkout?
Google Pay works anywhere you see a contactless payment symbol at checkout. Just wake the display on your phone and hold it near the terminal. You don’t even need to open the app.

How do I set up my card in Apple Pay?
On my iPhone:
  • Open your Wallet app, tap the + sign and follow the prompts.
On Apple Watch:
  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Select “Wallet & Apple Pay,” then “Add Credit or Debit Card.” Follow the prompts.
Which Apple devices support eftpos and Apple Pay?
Apple Pay with eftpos is available on iPhone SE, iPhone 6 or later and Apple Watch. You can find more info here and here.
Where can I use eftpos and Apple Pay?
You use Apple Pay anywhere contactless payments are accepted, using your iPhone or Apple Watch. You’ll need to authenticate your purchase with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. You can find more info on using Apple Pay here.
Exactly how do I use Apple Pay at the checkout?
Just follow these simple steps (and if you need more info, you can find it right here).

To use Face ID on iPhone:
  • Double-click the side button. Glance at your screen.
  • Then, hold your iPhone near the contactless reader.
To use Touch ID on iPhone:
  • Simply hold your iPhone near the reader with your finger on Touch ID.
  • For more info on using Apple Pay, visit the Apple website.
To use Apple Watch:
  • Double-click the side button.
  • Hold the Apple Watch up to the contactless reader.
How secure is Apple Pay?
Apple Pay was designed with security and privacy in mind. When using eftpos on Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device or Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and stored in the Secure Element on your device. This means no one ever sees your personal info. How do I change my default payment method to eftpos in my Apple Wallet?
On iPhone:
  • Open the Wallet app.
  • Select your debit card.
  • Tap the three dot icon.
  • Select eftpos SAV or eftpos CHQ from the Payment Option section.
On Apple watch:
  • Double-click the side button.
  • Select your debit card.
  • Then firmly press the display and choose eftpos SAV or eftpos CHQ.
How do I access eftpos options in my dual network debit card in Apple Wallet?
If Payment Options aren’t appearing for your dual network card in Apple Pay, you’ll need to remove your card from the Wallet app and add it again. Here are the steps to follow:

On iPhone:
  • First remove your card.
  • Open Apple Wallet, tap your eftpos debit card, tap the three dot icon, then tap Remove Card.
  • Then add your card again.
  • Open Apple Wallet, select the + sign in the upper-right corner and select Add a Different Card at the bottom of the screen
    then follow the prompts
  • Once you’ve re-added your card, the eftpos network will be available and you can pick eftpos CHQ or SAV options from the
    Payment Methods.
On Apple watch:
  • First remove your card.
  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, go to the My Watch tab, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, tap the card, then tap Remove this
    Card.
  • Then add your card again.
  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, go to the My Watch tab, tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
  • Tap the yellow Add Card option below the list of Payment cards.
  • Tap Continue and select Add a Different Card at the bottom of the screen, then follow the prompts to enable dual network f
    functionality.
  • Once you’ve re-added your card, the eftpos network will be available and you can pick eftpos CHQ or SAV options from the Payment Methods.

Disputes & chargebacks

Understand how to dispute an eftpos transaction.

What’s a dispute (and is it the same as a chargeback)?
A dispute is when you want to challenge an eftpos transaction – usually when you don’t think you’ve been fairly charged. For example, you might want to raise a dispute if:

  • You don't recognise the merchant
  • You were charged twice for the same goods / service
  • You paid for goods that you didn't receive
Disputes are also referred to as ‘chargebacks’ – the terms are used interchangeably.
How do I raise a dispute?
Your first port of call is your bank (whoever issued the card connected to the transaction). You will have a certain number of days from the date of the transaction to raise the dispute, so do this as soon as you become aware of a potential issue.

The eftpos Hub

Learn more about the eftpos Hub: a central place where all eftpos transactions from across the industry are processed.

What does it do?
The eftpos Hub is a central place where all eftpos transactions are processed, no matter where they’re made across Australia. It’s designed to handle all sorts of eftpos payments, including online, contactless and mobile payments – and even ATM transactions. To date, the eftpos Hub has had zero downtime, while conducting hundreds of regular releases, changes and processing millions of transactions every day.
Why was it created?
Before the eftpos Hub was created, these transactions were processed via a network of complex bilateral links between financial institutions and merchants. By replacing this network with a single hub, we’ve made it much easier and quicker to upgrade the network and add new capabilities. With the eftpos Hub, it’s much easier for members to make any system changes needed (such as products upgrades), as these can now be done once via a single eftpos Hub link – rather than with multiple changes on numerous bilateral links.

eftpos settlement service (eSS)

Understand how the eSS is making the payment settlement process easier and more efficient for eftpos members.

What is the eftpos settlement service (eSS)?
The eSS is a system that allows all of a member’s eftpos transactions to be processed in one central place: the eftpos Hub. It has been designed to make the payment settlement process easier and more efficient – especially when members are managing industry change.
How does the eSS work?
eftpos determines the multilateral net settlement obligation for each member, and initiates the settlement of those obligations through instructions to the Reserve Bank of Australia’s (RBA) Information and Transfer System (RITS). In doing so, it allows all inter-bank transactions to be settled more easily and simply.
How does the eSS benefit eftpos members?
Essentially, it removes legal complexities from the settlement process, driving efficiencies across members’ internal business operations.
Who can take advantage of the eSS?
All foundation and most new eftpos members are now using the eSS to process their eftpos CHQ and SAV transactions. What else does the eSS do? eSS will also soon manage the movement of funds for closed disputed transactions, streamlining the process for dispute management.
